By contacting the gallery, submitting photographs or item descriptions for appraisal clients agree to the conditions below:
Robert Perera Fine Art Ltd reserves the right to refuse to give valuations and purchase items.
The client owns the object or has the authority of the owner to sell the object.
It is wholly owned and is not subject to any outstanding finance agreement, claims or any restrictions etc.
Unless you say otherwise we can share your photos and information with our clients and partners and you give us permission to use them for our records, research and website.
You grant Robert Perera Fine Art Ltd. a royalty free licence, in perpetuity, to use the photographs you supply.
We may pass your details onto trusted interested parties only in connection with the sale of your item.
As part of our due diligence you give us permission to check your items with the Fine Art Loss Register.
Payment will be by cheque or bank payment. It is our company policy that we do not pay cash for any transaction.
All valuations are our personal opinion of what the item is worth to us based on information given to us by you including photos and descriptions and are subject to seeing the item. Any valuation given is not intended for and must not be used or any other purpose.
The client will disclose all relevant commercial history of the items including auction history.
The buying price (valuation) cannot be used as a valuation for insurance or any legal or official purpose.
Robert Perera Fine Art Ltd. shall only be responsible for goods when they are at our gallery and only for what is covered by our insurance policy.
Robert Perera Fine Art Ltd are not responsible for advice or actions of recommended parties and have no responsibility for any loss or damages however caused.
In the event that purchased items are proved to be fakes or have defective title the seller agrees to refund Robert Perera Fine Art Ltd. in full.
If we introduce you to one of our trusted partners, for you to deal with directly, we may receive an introductory comission (usually 5-10%) from our partner.
We do not act as an agent.
Anti-money laundering legislation
As an Art Market Participant we are governed by UK government anti-money laundering legislation. Robert Perera Fine Art Ltd. is under an obligation to take all reasonable measures to ensure that our transactions are not part of money laundering. The threshold for the mandatory checks is 10,000 Euros (currently about £8,600 – July 2025).
We are legally obliged to carry out identification checks and due diligence on all transactions over the threshold and also multiple transactions over time which total over the threshold. In line with bank and auction houses this will be applied to new and old clients. This will apply before the conclusion of any sale or purchase.
For individual Buyers / Sellers:
We are required to verify:
1. Buyer’s full name,
2. Date of birth
3. Nationality
4. Permanent address
We will need to see a valid official government-issued photo ID e.g. passport, driving licence or national ID card. A recent bank, utility or government letter showing name and address. Copies will be taken and retained.
Behalf of a company, charity or trust buyer/seller:
We are required to verify:
1. Company details including evidence of incorporation.
2. Directors and any ultimate beneficial owners.
If either use an agent/adviser acting on behalf of a buyer/seller:
We are required to also verify:
1. Identity of the agent/advisor, in addition to the ultimate buyer/seller
Payments must be received from the person/entity whose name is stated on the invoice.
The information you provide will be held and processed by us in accordance with Global Data Protection Regulations and will remain confidential.
Client information will remain confidential and will only be shared with HMRC, law enforcement, National Crime Agency (NCA) and trusted partners, concerned with identity checking and due diligence, if required under our obligation and the law.
Should there be a dispute both parties agree exclusive use of the English courts.
