Arthur Wardle [1860-1949] – Biography
He was born in London and from the age of sixteen was exhibiting at the Royal Academy where he continued to exhibit numerous works. He also exhibited at the Society of British Artists.
With his love of animals he mainly painted dogs especially terriers but also exotic animals including tigers, leopards and polar bears.
As his work became popular it was used on chocolate boxes, postcards, calendars and prints.
