Andy Warhol (1928-1987) – Biography
Andy Warhol was a renowned American artist, film director, and producer who was a major force in the development of Pop Art. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1928, Warhol studied pictorial design at the Carnegie Institute of Technology. He was the founder of “The Factory”, a studio and gathering place for artists and musicians.
1962 – Created iconic silkscreen prints of Campbell’s Soup Cans (1962) and also Marilyn Monroe’s face. Other well known works include “Mickey Mouse” , “Elvis Presley” and “Flowers” in 1964. Many of Warhol’s work often explored the crossover between art and business, using everyday images and materials to comment on consumer culture.
Andy Warhol pioneered the Pop Art movement in 20th-century America, influencing generations of artists, designers, and musicians.
