Duncan Grant (1885-1978) – Biography
Duncan Grant’s artistic style emerged after French post-impressionist exhibitions in London in 1910, with influences from Roger Fry, whom he often collaborated and critiqued. Grant co-directed the Omega Workshops with Vanessa Bell and Roger Fry. Grant created various artworks, including textiles, ceramics, and paintings, such as the 50-piece Famous Women Dinner Service at Charleston Farmhouse in Sussex. He was commissioned to create works for the RMS Queen Mary, but his designs were rejected by the Cunard Line. During World War II, Grant received a short-term commission for two paintings, including an image of St Paul’s Cathedral during the 1941 London Blitz.
