Georges-Noel Beraud [1912-1972] – Biography [Noel Bouvard]
He was the son of Eloi [Antoine Bouvard] and was born in Paris. From an early age he began to draw and his father encouraged him to paint in oils. At this time he painted flowers and landscapes which were signed G.Beraud.
He was educated at the Beaux-Arts from 1932 but also worked with his father, Antoine Bouvard, on paintings of Venice.
Bouvard was married in 1940 and his daughter Colette was born in 1941. Colette Bouvard was to become a well known artist of Venetian scenes in the family tradition.
In the late 1940’s he signed contracts with Paul Claux and Andre Larde to sell his work. The Gallery Clair and Mr Madsen also purchased his work for their galleries. His father, in 1954, introduces Georges to the Whitgift Galleries and Morscio to also sell his work.
On the death of his father Georges went into decline but throws his efforts into his work producing around 700 painting in the next 15 years. These are signed Bouvard or Marc Aldine.
He died in 1972.
