Iain MacNab [1890-1967] – Biography
He was born in lloilo in the Philippines while his father was working for the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank before moving to Scotland to live.
MacNab went to school at Merchiston Castle School and later studied at the Glasgow School of Art and Heatherley’s School of Art where he became principle.
He is know for his wood-engraving particularly his parallel lines creating a sense of motion.
Iain MacNab served in the First and Second World War but on each occasion was wounded and invalided out.
During 1925 he became a founder and principle of the Grosvenor School of Modern Art in London with Claude Flight and other linocut artists including Cyril Power and Sybil Andrews.
