Lill Tschudi [1911-2004] – Biography
She was born in 1911 in Schwanden in Switzerland. With an interest in linocut printing she joined the Grosvenor School in London in 1929 and became one of Claude Flight’s youngest students at the age of eighteen.
From the Grosvenor School she moved to Paris to continue her art studies including life drawing with Andre Lhote.
Based in Zurich in the late 1930’s she still visited Claude Flight in London. During the Second World War she joined the Women’s Aid Service and after the war returned to her home town where she continued to produce linocuts.
During the 1930’s her prints depicted movement involving many sporting events including skiing, cycling and sledging.
What did he paint?
She produced a wide range of subjects ranging from sporting events to Paris scenes.
